JOB SUMMARY
The primary focus of this position is to act as the clinical and administrative leader for Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) Counseling Center. This area is being revised and reimagined so this first year would be a time of assessment of services and proposal for staffing that provides adequate care and allows graduate students to fulfil clinical requirements.JOB STATUS

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees all Counseling Center (CC) administrative areas, including but not limited to: strategic planning; budgeting and financial oversight; evaluation and assessment of services, including compiling statistics and reports; developing and implementing CC guidelines, policies and procedures; publicity and marketing of services; maintaining university interdepartmental relationships; maintaining external community relations.
- Responsible for overall CC personnel management, including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training and supervising all licensed and unlicensed counselors; providing opportunities for the professional development of counseling professionals; ensuring that all staff uphold legal and ethical standards of practice in the provision of services to the PLNU community.
- Provides direct clinical services, as able, to the university community including intake assessment; individual, group and couples counseling; consultation services; education, training, prevention and outreach.
- The Director coordinates emotional crisis management response on site during normal business hours, and is available after hours and weekends for phone consultation as needed, providing oversight for the on-call counselor rotation
- Represents the CC through participation in administrative meetings, committee membership and other university functions, programs and/or events. The Director is a member of the university’s care team and behavioral intervention team.
- Maintains legal and ethical clinical practices within the CC. The Director will remain updated on current legal and ethical standards within the profession through membership in relevant professional organizations and attendance of appropriate professional conferences and/or workshops. In addition, the Director functions as the official keeper of records for the CC.
- Works in collaboration with PLNU graduate psychology programs to provide clinical sites for students when appropriate.
- Works in collaboration with interprofessional departments (Wellness, Residential Life, Student Care, etc.) to provide seamless overall care of students especially in crisis situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology or related field from an accredited institution.

- Clinical supervisor.
- Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of PLNU.

- Excellent communication skills, including strong command of grammar and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office products, including Word and Excel

Preferred Experience, Skills/Training
- Five years of professional clinical experience, university setting preferred.
- Prior clinical supervisory and administrative experience with demonstrated progression of responsibility.
Required License or Certification
- License to practice by the state of California Board of Psychology.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse and monitor. Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull and lift up to 10 pounds throughout the day.
